Microsoft, post the release of Windows XP Service Pack 2 in the year 2002 launched a variety of software updates. Microsoft later launched the SP3, the Windows XP Service Pack 3, which came, loaded with updates and improvements that helped the users improve the performance of XP as well as run down the issues that kept them off from better computing experience. Follow the instructions briefed below to update Windows XP Professional 2002.
Instructions
• Turn On the system. Click on the admin account icon. Place the mouse pointer on the Admin account password text. Hit the enter key to sign in.
• Wait for the sign in process to complete. Launch the Start menu. You may launch the Start menu by clicking the Windows orb placed on the bottom left corner of the home screen. Instead, you may use the shortcut key combo Ctrl + Esc to launch the Start menu. From the Start menu pop up, select the label that reads Control Panel.
• The Control Panel allows the user to manipulate and adjust the basic settings of your computer. Change the Control Panel window view from category to classic. To change the Control Panel view from category to classic, click on the link labeled “Switch to classic view”.
• Select the applet labeled Security and then select the Windows Update page. If you had custom set your computer to automatically collect the details of updates when they are available, the available update details will be briefed on the screen. If you hadn’t custom set you system, click on the link that reads Check For Updates placed on the top left corner of the home screen to manually search for the updates.
• Click on the link that reads details beneath the available update to view a description of the software revisions. Read it carefully.
• Place a tick mark in the box next to the update label to select the updates that you intend to delete. Hit the OK key to confirm the selection.
• Click on the Install Updates option in the Control Panel window to automatically download and install updates to your system.
• Follow the onscreen prompts to install the updates. Reboot your computer when prompted to apply the updates.
