Steps To Install Microsoft Security Updates

The security updates released by Microsoft for Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 help the system to fight and keep off malware and viruses from installing on your computer. You can download these updates from the Microsoft website free of cost. Follow the Microsoft tech support instructions briefed below to download and install the updates.
Windows XP

• Launch the browser. Place the mouse pointer in the search space and type Microsoft Security homepage web address. Hit the Enter or the green left arrow key next to the text space to navigate to the Microsoft Security homepage.
• Place the cursor on the Security Updates tab in the middle of the page. You will find two new options under the Security Updates tab.
• Click on the link that reads Get Updates. This will make the Microsoft Updates page open.
• Hit the Express button. This will make the Microsoft update search page to search for available and compatible updates. 
• Place a tick mark in the box next to the available and compatible updates. 
• Select the option that reads Install Updates. This will force Windows to install the Security updates automatically. Wait for the application to finish downloading and installing the security downloads. This may take a minute or two and is dependent on the internet connectivity speed. 
• When prompted, hit the Restart Now link. You may instead choose Restart later option. Hit the Close button to exit the Microsoft Update page.

Windows Vista and 7

• Launch the browser. Place the mouse pointer in the search space and type Microsoft Security homepage web address. Hit the Enter or the green left arrow key next to the text space to navigate to the Microsoft Security homepage.
• Place the cursor on the Security Updates tab in the middle of the page. You will find two new options under the Security Updates tab.
• Click on the link that reads Get Updates. This will make the Microsoft Updates page open.
• Place a tick mark against the recommended Microsoft updates. Hit the OK button at the bottom of the window to confirm the selection. 
• Now, hit the button labeled Install Updates. Wait for the application to download and install the Microsoft Security updates. 
• If prompted, restart your computer after the system has finished installing the update.
